I've been doing bench pressing for my deltoids, but aren't they also good for your triceps? Wondering if I can skip the Tricep Kickbacks and just bench press (essentially replacing two different weight workouts and combining them into one) What do you think?

Anyone can do anything for 15 minutes Kimberley

no, not for a targeted workout.  You can bring your hands together (hands touching) on the bar and bench from there for a tricep exercise.  That will target them more specifically instead of mostly the chest.

I agree with Beka that the answer is no. The whole routine is set up that way for a reason. If you decide to do some other routine, you will still get results, but I would hesitate to exclude direct work on the triceps. Bench only works them indirectly.

If you don't like kickback, do another exercise that hits the triceps. I find that dips or skull crushers work mine much better than kickbacks anyway. When you work chest and tris you want to work the cheat first. Your tris will be activated, but if you mistakenly target your tris first, then they will be fatigued when you need them to assist for the bench.

It's a journey, not a joy-ride.

Thank you! That's what I was thinking. I'm not seeing the results I want from my tri's and that's probably why. Going to try some of the ones you suggested....looking them up now.

Becka...is there a name for the ones you're describing, so I can look up how they are done? I workout from home with free weights.

well, frankly the way most people bench press it is a tricep workout... but if you are looking specifically to work the triceps I agree with Lenny on the close grip bench work... but still, please work to your chest.

And yeah, Jim, the size I have in my arms comes almost exclusively from my triceps...

I've been doing bench pressing for my deltoids

Did you mean pectorals? Delts get worked but not primarily.
